The Closing Ceremony of the 26th National Olympic Contest

on Mechanics in 2014 (Southern Area)

 

On May 25th,2014, Mekong University in collaboration with the Association of Science and Technology of Vietnam, Vietnam Association of Mechanics and Vietnam Student Association organized the ceremony and awarded the 26th National Olympic Contest on Mechanics in 2014 (Southern Area). This is the 2nd time Mekong University hosted the National Olympic Contest on Mechanics.

Attendants of the ceremony included Prof. Dr. Sc. Vu Duy Quang - People's Teacher, Head of the Organizing Board of the National Olympic Contest on Mechanics; Prof. Dr. Sc. Do Sanh – People's Teacher, Standing Vice President of Vietnam Association of Mechanics; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoai Son – Member of Vietnam Association of Mechanics; Mr. Vo Trong Huu - Director General of Department of Cultural and Social Affairs, member of the Steering Committee for Southwestern Region; Mr. Nguyen Nhu Hanh, Deputy Director General of Department of Cultural and Social Affairs, member of the Steering Committee for Southwestern Region; Mr. Truong Quang Phu, President of Association of Science and Technology of Vinh Long; many delegates from the Central Vietnam Student Association, Vietnam Association of Mechanics; representatives of universities attending the contest, and particularly the presence of nearly 200 winners from 16 universities - colleges of the Southern Region.

Representatives of Mekong University were Mr. Nguyen Cao Dat, Vice Rector– Head of the Organizing Board of the National Olympic Contest on Mechanicsin 2014 of Mekong University; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung- Vice Rector, Deputy Head of the Organizing Board; and leaders of faculties and departments of Mekong University.

Prof. Dr. Sc. Vu Duy Quang- People's Teacher, Head of the Organizing Board of the National Olympic Contest on Mechanics is delivering his speech.

The contest attracted the participation of 40 universities and colleges with 1,199 contestants in 8 subjects: Theoretical Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Structural Mechanics, Hydraulics, Soil Mechanics, Machine Principles, Machine Parts and Computing Applications in Mechanics (Machine Parts, Theoretical Mechanics, Machine Principles). According to the Organizing Board, the contest made major attraction for students; and the quality has been improved. The contest helped students with the opportunity to exchange of knowledge and experiences to improve the learning qualities and outcomes.

Many excellent prizes were awarded to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Ha Noi University of Technology, and University of Construction, University of Transport and Communications, etc.

The Organizing Board awarded the total of 35 prizes for teams and 179 prizes for individuals including 15 gold medals, 50 silver medals, 114 bronze medals and 238 encouraging prizes .

At the ceremony, the Organizing Board gave the Olympic flag to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - the next host for 27th National Olympic Contest on Mechanics in 2015 (Southern Area).
