The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences is one of the first five faculties of Mekong University. It trains and provides a team of highly qualified engineers serving the human resource needs of the Mekong Delta.

  •   Training majors: Food Technology, Agronomy, and Bio-Technology
  •   Training level: Full-time undergraduate level (4 years - 8 semesters)

Food Technology

  It is oriented towards the processing industry of agricultural and sea products. Students can apply their knowledge in processing process, use modern equipment in production; make plans, projects, test and assess the quality of products in production and processing units.

Employment opportunities:Working for trading and processing enterprises, agro-product processing units, brewery and confectionery factories, and vegetable oil companies.

Agronomy

  Training agronomy engineers who are equipped with general and specialized knowledge covering the production fields as cultivation (seed production techniques, plant protection, etc.), animal husbandry, aqua-products (breeding, production techniques, veterinary medicine, environmental sanitation, etc.)

Employment opportunities:Working for research institutes, agronomy laboratories, fertilizer, plant protection medicine, aqua-product, husbandry companies, and government agronomy agencies.

Bio-Technology

  Training biotechnological engineers who are equipped with knowledge in botanic biotechnology, gene technology, plant breeding, enzyme and protein technology.

Employment opportunities:Working for pharmaceutical companies (drug processing, vaccine) in environment, seedlings and breedings, and industrial sectors (fermentation,medicine processing), businesses involved in biotechnology, testing institutes, research institutes for post-harvest technology, processing companies of agro-products, forest products, foods, aqua-products, ecological protection, etc.

Extra-curricular Activities

  The seniors are annually introduced to the research institutes for graduation internship. On the other hand, the juniors are offered opportunities to do internship on particular subjects at production units or farms inside or outside the province. Contests on specialized knowledge are also organized for students to improve their practical skills.
